dusty - cat losing weight

my cat is losing weight..he used to be around 18-20lbs...now probably 14lbs..not eating well. still using his litter box...cant jump up on the bed..that is recent..he cries and sleeps day and nite...very loveable still..wants to be petted when he is awake..

moans coming up the stairs..

any ideas...he is almost 11 years old...

well you haven't told me how old your cat is. from what you have said it sounds like an old cat who is getting problems with his joints etc which a lot of older cat get. Older cats can also lose weight too.

However if he is not eating well and is losing a lot of weight rapidly and is crying with discomfort then you must take them to a vet. i would not like to say what the problem could be but the sooner you can get them to the vet the better. Hopefully the vet can help. At least you will know what the problem is and also you will have the knowledge that you are helping your cat and hopefully stopping any pain etc.
