Kitten Rescued From Our Window Well - Cat Rescue Story

It was a cold snowy April evening in 2009 when I first heard meows from outside. I searched but couldn't find anything. Same meows the next night and this time I found a kitten in our window well. Took her in, gave her some canned salmon and water, while she meowed the entire time. She's very chatty. We made posters the next day but never did put them out. We quickly grew attached to the little kitten.

A few days later we had to go out of town so a friend at work offered to look after her. Just before we left we noticed one of her eyes was bothering her. While we were gone, our friend had to take her to the vet and have her eye removed. We decided to call her Suzi. She still had problems with her other eye and she saw 2 more vets and they both said to take her to an eye specialist. Just before her appointment she had a reaction to her shots and we had to take her to emergency. They prescibed eye drops and bumped her appointment with the specialist to the next day. The doctor was very excited to see her eye, so much he didn't charge us for the visits. It's a rare developmental problem and there is almost no literature on this. He talked about possible surgery but thought the eye drops might strenghten the eye. After 6 weeks of eye drops and a few more visits to the Care Centre, she was given a clean bill of health.

Suzi has been healthy ever since and is a very important part of our lives. She's travelled to both coasts of Canada with us and has everything she needs to be happy. Although we had no intentions on getting a pet, we're happy she found us.
