My Pussy Cat Dolls - A Cat Rescue Story

I was living up at the family cottage and started feeding a small grey and white cat. She disappeared for one month, only to reappear with 3 kittens romping across the lawn.

I had a ticket to go to costa rica for 3 months. Early november, one night i came home to find all three kittens hungry. I fed them and pet each one.. vowed to catch them in the morning. Come morning i heard a desperate cry of one kitten. I scooped her up and brought her inside.. she was skin and bones. Next week I fed and got the other kitten. While sitting in my car the mom ran into the garage. I set a trap got her and took her to get fixed..The vet asked me if i wanted to put her down. "NO". I said.

Anyway,, I postponed my trip to costa rica. Kept the kittens in the house (my family cottage ..2 sibs allergic!).. So I tried to find good homes.. to no avail. Howling winds, extreme cold, kitty flus (homemade chicken broth cured this) was battle.

We lived through the winter.. I got the two kittens fixed (girls).. So my little crew settled in the finished basement and heated garage. I would hang out with them and provide room service and housekeeping. No one in my family knew about them.

Come spring we had to clear out.... That meant deep hypoallergenic cleaning. and stress. Also decision time for me about my boyfriend and tackle my business out east.

So the Pussy cat dolls and I finally loaded up in the subaru(they had deluxe cages with small litter boxes and beds). We drove 4 hours to my moms... I ran in to dump some stuff off and the 2 kittens opened the latch and jumped out the window of my car at my moms. It was so hot out.. On the drive down i wore a wool sweater so the air would crank on them.


I called and called ..I attracted a very nice cat from the neighborhood. The sweetie doll. Maple was my lure. The scared doll.. Venus was my trouble. Finally they got into the garage.. I slept in the garagge all night and tried to get Venus. Found her!! Maple gave her hiding place away.

So Queenie Doll, Maple Doll, Venus Doll and their faithful servant (me).. with clean bedding and fresh litter headed east for a 12 hour journey. They slept for 10 hours and even used the liter boxes in my moving car.

Our forever home is 2500 sq. feet.. my future husband spent 3 hours kitty proofing the finished basement. They now have the run of the house(except the bedrooms).. play and sleep all day.

I write this because just as i was looking up cat information, Queenie doll jumped on my lap for the very first time ever.

The Pussy Cat Dolls are happy and well adjusted and well behaved(for now). I have used positive reinforcement for behavior and all natural organic kitty food. I comb them everyday. Oh and they even get along with the Beagle I rescued last year! That is another story...
