cat goes wild when eating treats

by Scott
(South east)

My cat growls & drools like a wild animal when we give him treats especially the meat sticks. He doesnt like to be touched or any interation while in this state. Just sits in a trance growling wildly. Is this him going back to his wild routes, as soon ad it's gone back to the fuss me purring domestic cat.. Any ideas? And is this ok & normal?

Hi
yes this sounds to me like instinct kicking in. Cats can be very protective over their food and he may become so excited receiving these treats that he goes into what i call wild mode.

I have seen this before, he is simply protecting what is his and enjoying the experience too.

best wishes kate
