Cat Urine problem

My cat has been peeing in the bathtub. I clean his litter box every 3 days and have changed type of litter used. Why is he doing that?

Hi well there are two possibilities. either he has a urine infection, see this page for more symptoms of this

When you say you clean the litter box every 3 days are you saying the litter or the entire box with fresh litter? Cats do not like dirty litter boxes. I often clean ours twice a day. And most cats do not like change of any kind. Even a new piece of furniture can stress your cat. We had a cat who urinated on a rug in our guest bathroom all the time. I was not familar with cats (I always had dogs) so I didn't think anything of it, but a friend mentioned our cat could have a urine infection (as Kate said). Unfortunately we did not realize this could be a serious problem. He did have an infection. It was too late and we had to put him to sleep. To be safe I'd take your cat to the vet. Good Luck to you.
