Dirty Paws

I have an older cat (unsure of his age due to taking him in from someone else with no records) and every time he uses the bathroom his back paws are always covered in caked on cat litter, which is really gross. When he uses the bathroom he only puts his back paws in the litter, does his business, covers it, and leaves with the back paws covered in litter. What can I do to prevent this because the litter gets all over the house (on couches, rugs, etc.) and it's driving me nuts?

Hi
I would try a different sort of litter. there are many different sorts around. perhaps a paper based one which is light and should not stick.

I have a web page which describes some of the litters available here

best wishes Kate
