To Pick up a cat

We adopted a 4 year old female and her 2 kittens. She just stopped nursing a couple of weeks ago. We have to bring her to the vet this week. I am nervous about picking her up to put her in the carrier-she seems to be very sensitive around the stomach area. What is the best way to pick her up to put her in the carrier?

Hi
well you have to be confident and quick. Pick her and place her in the carrier in one motion if possible.

Put you right hand under her chest from behind her from paws, lift her and as you do with your other hand scoop up her back legs so that they are supported in your hands. This is the correct way to pick up a cat and helps them not to feel insecure and struggle too much.

The process is describe more here on this page

Don't worry it can take a little practice before you get it right.

best wishes Kate
