i took my cat to the vet last week and my vet said it was hairballs that was wrong with my cat...HOWEVER....my cats not eating right, she's not grooming properly, she's sleeping ALL day, she's spitting up white foamy liquid a couple of times a day, and even around her eyes she just looks plain sick.....i KNOW this is not normal....but is this life threatening? i am very worried....i am going to schedule an appointment this is the first time taking my cat to this vet but i am just NOT comfortable with my visit...the vet literally only checked the cats heart rate, felt her stomach we was only in there for 10 mins! please help i don't want to lose my cat

Hi
yes sometimes hairballs can be rather distressing for a cat, they can go off their food and want to lay around more. Also the white foamy stuff is their effort in trying to get the hairball up. i dont know if the vet gave you any medication to try and get rid of the hairball of not. i do have a page with some more information about them here

https://www.our-happy-cat.com/hairballs.html

However sometimes the hairball is so stuck that a vet has to try and remove it so if you feel that this could be the case then a another trip to the vets is a good idea.

A normal vet appointment is normally around 10 minutes but if the problem persists they can do more tests.

Dont worry and if you want more information from your vet then dont be afraid to ask, thats what their there for.

best wishes Kate
