New Kitten

I just got a new kitten, she is 10 weeks old. She doesn't seem to like her litter box and has gone to the bathroom several times on the carpet, but it is not solid stool, it is more diarrhea than anything. I do put her in the litter box but she just jumps right back out. I know this is probably just because of the change in environment, but I'm just worried that it might be a deeper problem, and wondering what I should do about it. Thanks so much!

Hi
It is not unusual for kittens to have soft stools as their digestive systems are still settling down to solid food.

Plus a t 10 weeks old she is very young and ideally would still be with her mother for a while longer so that she could be taught about litter trays etc from her mum. But not to worry she will pick it up eventually if you are pesitant with her. Also make sure the sides of the litter tray are not too high for her and the litter you are using is not too rough for her paws at this age.

I have more information about different litters here Cat litter

Her symptoms does not sound like she needs a trip to the vets at the moment. keep an eye on her and make sure she is eating and drinking either water or kitten milk (not regular milk), if you notice any other signs that you may be concerned about then it would be best to take her to the vets for a checkup to put your mind at rest and to be on the safe side.

best wishes KAte
