help cat is sick

my cat has been losing hair at the base of his tail. My boyfriend notices a bump there. Upon further looking there are several small dot scabs all over this area. My cat is also walking funny in the hind legs. Like a wobbled bowleg. he's an 8 year old cat who recently had blood work done (nothing wrong. He also got out of the house recently and did not have his feline lukemia shot this year (vet said it was unecessary since indoor only). my cat is in pain and gets upset if you try to touch it. what could it be?

Normally the tail area is where parasite problems can occur but there are many possible causes for this to happen. please see this page for some more possible causes.

Your best option is to take him to the vets and have the area looked at again, it does sound like it is now causing him some discomfort so the sooner the better.
