2 Day Old Kittens

by Jaida

My cat had kittens for the first time, she had four and she had them while I was away camping, she gave birth to them in my dirty laundry pile and I need to wash my laundry, is it safe to move the kittens to clean bedding or should I keep them where they were born? Just a reminder, they are two days old.

Hi
well if I were you I would place a box filled with newspaper and a soft old blanket or cloth next to your laundry basket and quickly move them all over. howver keep your hanlding of the kittens to a minimum and make the whole process a quite and calm one so as to not upet the mother too much.

Doing this hsould be fine, don't be surprised though if the mum cat moves her kittens anyway to somewhere else. this is normal behavior.

I have some more pages about kitten care which you may also find of interest here on the site.

best wishes Kate
