2 year old female cat with tiny white/black worms on skin

by Brandi
(Fort Smith,ar)

what are these tiny black/white worms on my cat's skin. They shed off and die. She has patches of fur missing from scratching so much.

Answer from Kate
Hi
Sounds like they are the larvae of some sort of skin mite, also the fur loss would also indicate that there is some sort of mite causing your cat some discomfort and causing her to scratch so much that she is loosing her fur.

Please see this page for more on fur loss and mites

best wishes Kate
