My 5 week old kitten is named Khloe, lately her poop is really runny with some blood in it. Is it because I switched her food?

And my nephew has to held her, may it be that he was sqeezing her to hard? Im really conserned!!

It is not unusual for kittens to get tummy upsets from time to time but I don't like the sound of the blood in it.

Kittens can be susceptible to illness and injury and so i always advise new owners of very young kittens like this to see the vet as soon as possible. As sometimes kittens can go down hill very quickly if not treated for any illness or injury immediately.

Hopefully it is just a boat of diarrhoea which may have been caused by a change in food, but its always better to be safe than sorry.

If there is still blood in the faeces then definitely take them to a vets as soon as possible. If not then hopefully in a day or so the tummy will settle down. Make sure the kitten has a lot of fresh water to drink to prevent dehydration caused by the diarrhoea.

best wishes kate
