This is My Domain Now !!!!

I have just brought home a 2 year old female who growls and hisses at my other 2 grown up cats, does this stop will she get used to them, or will I need to rehome her to a household with no other animals. She loves people but the other cats are a problem to her. Her hair stands on end, she arches her back, and growls and hisses if they get too close.

it is quite normal for a new cat to a household with other cats to behave in this way. Most signs of aggression are caused by fear and this case that is probably what the cause is. A new home, new people and smells and other cats. Thats a lot all at once.

there is a technique that can be used to allow new cats and existing pets to get to know each other in a controlled safe environment which helps to build there confidence. It takes a little while but is worth it in the end. the process is described here

She looks like a lovely cat who i'm sure given some time can settle into her new home well.

best wishes Kate
