my 8 year old cat is going bald, why???

It could be a skin condition. A vet can take a skin scraping and see what it is.

the only other cause if over grooming which stressed out cats can suffer from. Do you notice him over grooming? If so you may have to try and find out what is causing the stress.

First however i would suggest taking him to the vet for the skin test as it may be causing your cat some distress.
