Black kitty limp

my 6 month old kitten has slept literally all day. when you pick him up he makes sort of a gasping noise. He has always made wheezing sounds occasionally, but I always just figured he was sucking things up his nose, since it is generally when he is eating drinking, or playing outside. is he ok?

Hi it sounds to me like he may have a respiratory infection or perhaps even cat flu or a cold.

Kittens can be very suceptable to infection early on before their immune system kicks in, so i always recommend taking kittens to the vets at any sign of illness.

if it is cat flu it can be quite serious and dehydration is something to try and avoid.

Hopefully it is only a slight cold but it really isn't worth taking the chance i feel and would take him to the vets as soon as possible.
