what does it mean when an old cat opens its mouth a breathes weird and his very thin and barley eating

This is impossible to say but I would say that it does sound like your cat may be ill in some way and so you must take them to the vets as soon as possible.

All the symptoms you describe are potentially very serious and so the sooner you can get them to the vets the better.

I hope the vet can help your cat quickly.
