Bump on our cats, Orion's head

by Gina

Friday morning my cat, Orion, turned up with a hard bump on his head between his ears. At first we thought he got in a fight (which has never happened before). We looked through his fir the best we could to see if there was a scratch or something and it felt like there was a small bump. We figured he got bit by something instead of a fight. He is still eating, etc., but today, Saturday, the bump became soft and is oozing a creamy, light brown, slightly bloody liquid. I pushed out as much of it as i could, I hope I did the right thing. I'm worried about the liquid - should I take him to the vet to make sure nothing went into his bloodstream?

Thank you.

Hi Sorry i have not been able to get back to you sooner.

yes it sounds to me like an infected bite. getting the puss out is a good thing but often the infection will come back and so your cat may need some antibiotics from the vet to stop the infection spreading.

Keep the area as clean as you can, but if I were you i would take him to the vets to be on the safe side.

i hope he is better soon

best wishes kate
