cat can't seem to breath properly

My cat was breathing weird, like trying to cough something up, is laying around, breathing weird, mouth open won't eat

Or your cat may have a respiratory illness. It is very difficult to say. If the symptoms persist for more than a few days and you feel that it is not getting better then you may have to consult your vet.

Make sure your cat tries to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
