cat - cough sneeze gag

my kitty is almost 17 a geriatric...he has thyroid issues which are being handled. What I've noticed recently is that every time he eats or starts to he sort of sneezes, gags, coughs...it's not like cold it is just peculiar. I've had cats all my life and just don't know what to do for him. He also has started to shake his feet (only the front ones)..he'll stand by his food, lower his head and then start eating and he kinda shuffles his front paws, like he's shaking water off them. He is meowing more and more...I know he has siamese in him, and they are vocal cats, but this goes on for minutes....I think his hearing is going.......so , he has multiple things going on, but the main one I am worried about is the coughing sneezing gagging sounds he makes... thankyou:-)

Hi at 17 he is rather old and so could start to suffer from all sorts of age related conditions.

I am not a vet and so cannot diagnose the sneezing issue. It does sound very strange though and if it were me I would want to take him to see a vet in case there is some obstruction in his nose area which is irritated when he eats.

I have a web page about senior cats and their problems which you may find of further information.

best wishes Kate
