my 1year old female Bengal is finding it difficult to walk, (she is not pregnant) and cannot get up the stairs or jump on to my lap she walks for a few steps before having to stop and crouch down. vet gave her pain killers and said come back in a week. can you help

Hi Pam
Sorry no not really, I am not a vet and so cannot diagnose, I also have not come across this before. it does sound strange though. She must be having pain or discomfort for her to do this. I am also surprised at your vets response. I would have thought that he would want to do tests etc to find out what is wrong.

I used to think most vets in the Uk were excellent as we are a nation of animal lovers and our laws for animals are the best in the world I think but I have recently found out from a member of the RSPCA that this is not the case any more and some vets are i am afraid to say driven by money. All I can say is if you feel that you are not happy with your vets diagnosis, take them somewhere else for a second opinion.

Perhaps someone else who sees this post will have had a similar experience and be able to advise.

best wishes Kate
