Cat Drinking Too Much Water

by Bernadette Novelozo

My 12 year old cat is drinking more water than usual and urinating in places he shouldn't. What could be wrong with him?

Answer by Kate
hi well the excessive drinking may be connected with a thyroid issue. this would need to be checked my a vet.

As for the urinating if the urine smells normal then this could be due to the fact that the cat is feeling unwell and is trying to comfort himself by making the home smell more like him. if it smells stronger than normal then he may be suffering from a Urinary infection.

either way i would get him checked by a vet as soon as you can to find the cause of the excessive drinking.

best wishes Kate
