cat eating grass and losing weight

by Uma

Uma has shown progressive pronounced abdominal tuck. Has normal appetite but does vomit more lately but we think this is caused by his habit of eating grass, though he lives indoor 98% of the time. He has also lost 4-5 pounds over 6 months. He is 14 years old and has always had some excess weight but now he is losing it slowly. Why?

hi
cats eat grass when they are feeling unwell and want to make themselves sick. this could be because they have a hairball which they need to shift or it could be a stomach problem.

Weight loss can be caused by so many different things, non of which can be diagnosed without examination. It really does sound like your cat needs to see a vet as soon as possible.

best wishes Kate
