Cat eats alot

Our three year old cat Sassy has recently become much less active and eats often. She has gained about 3 pounds in three weeks. She has always been very active and now mostly wants to lay around and nap. Any idea what may be wrong with her?

Hi
Three years old is a young age for a cat to want to start to slow down. There may be an underlying cause for this. Possibly she is in some pain which means that she does not want to move around, or there may be a hormone imbalance which is slower her down.

I have a page about thyroid conditions and one of these is a tendency to put on weight and be lethargic. here is the page

Your best option is to take your cat to be checked by a vet.

best wishes kate
