Cat foaming at the mouth

I broke up a fight between my 3 year old black cat and a much bigger neighborhood cat. Now my cat is hiding under my car and drooling/foaming at the mouth and seems to be trying to eat the foam. Why is this? My husband thinks it means he's crying. Is this how cats cry when they're hurt? He is limping now.

Hi
no cats don't cry perse. I am wondering if he broke a tooth or something during the fight and that is causing the drooling. Also the limp could indicate a cat bite or scratch and these can become infected very easily.

my advice would be to get your cat to see a vet as soon as possible. Its very likely that your cat is both scared and also possibly in pain.

Hope he is better soon
