Cat has bowel trouble

Hi my 14 year old cat has a alot of blood come out sometimes after he poops.it's more like a puddle of blood.. he acts just fine.

Oh my goodness this does sound rather worrying, a puddle of blood is rather excessive. If this happened to a human they would be off to the doctors straight away and so i think your cat should see a vet .

blood in the stools or as you say puddles of blood need to be looked into further. It may be a problem with the actual bowel or it may have something to do with the entire digestive system or stomach. Your vet will have to examine to find out.

Does your cat strain excessively when he goes to the loo? If he does it may be constipation or hard stools which could cause the blood. But as I say a puddle of blood would be rather excessive.

In cases like this, there is no one possible cause i'm afraid and even though your cat may not be showing signs of distress this is not normal and should be investigated.
