Cat Hiding, drinking lots of water, not eating, and meowing a lot

My Baby

She's 12 years old, up to date on all shots etc- but today she started meowing loudly, hiding (which is unusual- she's a cuddler), won't eat- and is only leaving her hiding spot to drink tons of water. She seems to have a tender spot mid-back (I can't feel a bump or anything)- but won't let me explore that. Can't afford an emergency vet (Wednesday evening). How serious could it be?

Answer by Kate
hi
probably not an emergency but is definitely something a vet should take a look at. it does sound like she may have hurt herself some how.

When ever a cats behavior changes dramatically for no apparent reason it is always a good idea to have it checked out by a vet to make sure there is no underlying illness.

i hope she is better soon

best wishes Kate

All better

The cat and puppy are working it out and cat is eating much better. Think now that the growling when touched was related to the anxiety over the puppy. Thank you, Kate.

Our Siamese has these symptoms

Has been hiding due to new puppy for 2 wks now. When coaxed will come out to drink a lot and eat a few treats. Sensitive to touch in his middle. Don't think he was hurt but am worried the heavy drinking may be sign of kidney/bladder problems. We have a puppy appt April 30th. Can I wait and take cat then too or should he go now?

I would go now. If there is a problem it is always better to treat early.
Hope he is Ok. Kate
