Cat hissing and licking after litter box

by Kelcie

Three times now (once about three weeks ago, once afternoon last week and yesterday afternoon) after using the litter box (I am not sure whether it was to urinate or defecate) my two year old female has run out of the litter box hissing and starts licking around her anus. She will continue hissing and licking for about an hour then seems to be ok and goes back to her normal routine! I wouldn't be worried if it weren't for the fact that this is now the third time! I don't think she has worms as she is an indoor cat and has regular flea treatment doses.

HELP! What should I do/look for? Should I take her to the vet?

Answer from Kate
Well something is definitely bothering her. Either she does have some sort of parasite such as worms or she has pain going to the loo.

Personally if it were me i would take her to be checked out as it has happened several times within a few weeks. At the very least i would like to know that she is not in pain of discomfort in any way.

Hope she is ok

best wishes kate
