cat hissing at other cat after groomers

by Ryan
(New Jersey)

Hello,

I have two cats, Twussy and Tiger. Today, Twussy was groomed for the first time in years, and ever since I brought it home Tiger has not stopped hissing and spitting at him. Can you tell me whats wrong?

Thank you
Ryan

This is known as aggression truama and occurs when something bad happens or a strange smell is around.

The cat is afraid of the new smell in this case from the groomers and possibly even the changed look of the other cat and is reacting with aggressive behaviors.

usually this behavoir stops after a few days when things settle down to normal again. You can help by rubbing your new cat all over with their sleeping blanket or even the other cats blanket to make it smell normal.

If the behavior continues after a few days you will have to consider going through the reintoduction of the cats again (see introducing cats on my cat training pages).

Don't worry things should settle down soon. best wishes kate
