cat in hiding

i was given a 14 mth male cat three weeks ago , he came from a house that had cats

as soon as he came here he went into hiding he ate some food then i only saw him once i thought he had gone for good but my son saw him in kitchen he only comes out at nite to eat
i know he is under the floor boards but he wont come out what can i do

Well it is not unusual for a some cats to hide for a few weeks when they go to a new home. they need time to build their confidence in you and their new surroundings.

However it is not good that he is under the floor boards. really you need to wait till he sneaks out and then block his entrance under the floor again. He will probably still hide but give him time and space and he will eventually comae around.

offering treats is always a good move to try and help them trust you.
