cat is constantly bathing herself

My cat has been cleaning herself almost constantly. She also has been sitting with her back paws spread out . both started around the same time.

It is difficult to say whether the two are connected. If the grooming is excessive then I would definitely recommend that you take her to the vets, she may have a skin allergy or some other other allergy which is causing her some distress. This may also explain her sitting position as perhaps it is more comfortable to sit/lie like that.

My cat was allergic to a single flea bite which caused her to go mad with itching. Sometimes over grooming can also be an expression of pain or anxiety so again I would say that a trip to the vets would be a good option .
