Cat keeps returning to old home

My cat continues to cross a busy street to return to my old neighborhood. When we lived there he visited both of the other houses next door. Now he leaves at night to enter one of their houses through the cat door. He darts out the door and it seems impossible to keep him in. I asked them not to feed him there, but he eats their cat's food. They are nice about it, but it is so dangerous crossing the street and we have to keep traveling over there to pick him up. Any advice?

Hi
well this is difficult if you have moved but still live close to your old address.

All i can suggest is a period of confinement for your cat to give them time to get used to their new home and to try and break the habit of returning to the old address. keep them in one room with their toys bedding, litter tray eyc and spend lots of time making a fuss of them. Also make sure your home is as stimulating as possible so that he won't feel the need to wander off see this page for some ideas
