Cat meowing in hall by door

We live in a condo. Our cat keeps returning over to the hallway by the door meowing. He usually meets us at the door when we come home in the evenings. The only things over in the hallway are our shoes, a mirror 6 feet up with keys hanging on it. And a coat hanger. He often plays with his ball toys in our shoes, but he returns over there when even they are not there. We don't know if he's bored because we're not playing with him or he's lonely. Or what. He's 6 months old.

Hi
in my experience it could be one of two things. either he is bored and is going to the area where he normally plays or he can hear something in the wall or outside the door.

My cats will sit staring at a wall for ages as they are convinced that they can hear a noise in the wall. we have never heard anything but then again cats have great hearing.

meowing is often used to communicate with us and so i am wondering that in your case your kitten is asking for some games or something to keep him entertained. Some cats do require more stimulation than others.

best wishes Kate
