cat not using litter tray

My cat is about 6 years old. She has ALWAYS used her litter box. I have never witnessed her peeing or pooping anywhere but there until recently. Several weeks ago she began pooping AND peeing on rugs, couches, and beds. Once in awhile she goes in her litter box. Also, I've noticed that she has been urinating a lot. It is not frequently, but when she does go, it is a large amount. She has also began to lose some of her fur. Mostly towards the bottom of her belly, and around the base of her tail. She looks as though she may be losing a little bit of weight, but she seems to be eating her normal amount. I am trying to get money to take her to the vet, but I'm hoping you can give me some advice in the meantime.

Thanks.

Hi
well she may have a urinary infection which is causing her some distress. Couple that with the fur loss and she may have anxiety about this too. Your right a trip to the vets is necessary and the sooner the better.

Sometimes this sort of behavior can be associated with anxiety usually caused if something has changed in the home or something has frightened them. if they are given a clean bill of health then this is the other option. I have a page about this here
https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-urine.html

Once you have taken her to the vets you will be better informed as to how to tackle this problem.

best wishes Kate
