cat peeing

Hi,

i have had my cat for about 10 years now and during the most recent 4 years she has been peeing on and off on beds, suitcases and blankets.
She is girl and has been spayed but we cant figure out the problem. The first couple of years she only did it about twice a year at random times. But in the past couple years she had peed on my bed 4 times in one month! then i decided to keep my door closed and she started peeing on the bathroom rug frequently. So about 4 months ago we took her to the vet and they said she didnt have a urinary problem and it could just be behavioral. But then this past weekend she peed on our couch my sister backpack and my bed in 2 days!! what could be wrong and what can we do to prevent this!!

Answer by Kate
yes this does sound like a beahvior issue, if you see my page on this site under cat urine problems it outlines some of the causes of this behavior and how you may be able to help prevent it in the future. There are quite a few reasons for this sort of behavior and so i wrote the page to help the many people who contact me with similar problems.
I hope my page will help you find out what may be causing the problem.

Peeing is common

I understand your problem and feel sorry for you. It's really irritating and disgusting but you have to figure out the reasons, otherwise you won't stop it. Just spend some time watching your cat. Maybe you'll see some strange behavior or find some motives.
