Cat rubbing butt on carpet.

Our cat has been rubbing or scratching her butt on the carpet. She does not have worms as confirmed by her last visit to the vet. Does anyone have any idea why she does this and what we can do to get her to stop?

I don't know if youre cat is spayed or not, but years ago i had a unneautered female cat who would do this when she was in heat. It was a way to think of spreading her scent around.

The other option is that her anal glands need attention or that she has a skin mite in the area around her rear end that is causing irritation.

Unfortunately if it is because she is in heat then nothing can be done apart from getting her spayed. If not then it really is something that your vet needs to look further into (as it were).
