Cat sticking out tongue and lump under jaw

by Heather
(Flint, MI)

Last week my cat began drooling really bad and was hiding. She seemed to be in pain. We took her to the vet and they said her teeth were fine and she had a small red spot on her gums that was irritated so they gave us this antibiotic ointment to rub on the gums. Her drooling mostly went away and she began to act alot happier and more her self. Now she is just mostly sticking out her tongue and seems to be sleeping more than usual and eating less. I noticed today a large lump under her jaw. Its round and she seems to like it when you rub it. She has been eating but seems to have trouble chewing and has been eating less. She doesn't act like she is in pain but I am wondering what could be causing this lump and her tongue sticking out. I plan to get her back in to vet on Monday.

Thank you.

Sorry but there is no way for me to know what this could be and I wouldn't like to guess at anything.
You are doing the right thing by taking her back to the vets as soon as possible, that is the best care and the only way that this limp can be thoroughly examined to see what it could be.

i hope it is something that can be cleared up soon.

best wishes Kate
