Cat suddenly Sick

My family has been taking care of my sister in laws cat until she can afford a house and take it with her.


We have had no problems with him, but suddenly today he started puking. My mom put him somewhere comfortable, because he seemed very distressed. I went to see him, and he was drooling, shivering, weak, and his eyes were watering... and then a few minutes later he peed, and pooped on the floor uncontrollably. My mom tried giving him some antibiotics but she couldn't get much down, because he kept pulling away. Then, about an hour later I went to him again, and he had pooped on the floor again...but it had a lot of blood in it.

I'm horrified. We can't go to a vet, because the roads are awful. My sister's boyfriend even crashed today because of the road conditions. I don't want to lose him...what should we do??

This sounds terrible and sounds to me like he may have eaten some poison but i can't be sure.

There is unfortunately not much you can do for him until you can get him to the vets. My advice would be to make sure fresh water is right by him and if he does not drink to try and spoon some water into him a little every hour to keep him hydrated as this can be dangerous if he does become dehydrated.

Keep him in a warm quiet spot and telephone the vet for some advice.

I really hope you bare able to get him to the vets soon. He does sound in a bad way.

Doing Better Now

Thank you. I've been giving him 1 cc of chicken broth every hour, and been giving him water as well.

He's doing much better now though. He's responsive again, and he's got a lot of strength in him. (I figured that out when I gave him some chicken broth, haha) But thank you again for your advice. :)
