Cat urinating on clothes

by Dotty Johnson
(Batesville, MS)

Our cat seems to only be urinating on my sons clothes. He works out and plays sports, but the cat has peed on clothes that he had not worked out in. Just recently he peed on my other sons shoulder pads. He is not using the beds or other family members clothes. Help

Hi this is a common occurrence with one particular persons clothes. It usually means that the smell of the person on the clothes is comforting to the cat and they want to add their scent to them to make themselves feel more secure in the home.

It usually means that something has happened which has made your cat feel a little insecure and the smell of their own urine helps them to feel happier about things.

Please read my web page about cat urination issues for more on this here

Follow the litter training process for a few days or a week to give your cat some time to calm down and to readjust to his litter tray once more. Also you will have to make very sure that no remains of his scent is left on the clothes, even the smallest spot will encourage him to go there again. Here is a page about some cleaners and a black light which helps to show up spots of urine.
