cat vomiting and dragging hind leg

My cat is almost 8 yrs old. He's neutered, has been since he was 6 weeks. He's thrown up before, I think he eats too fast, sometimes, be he's always been fine. He was fine last night, then about 1AM I heard him throw up, then he was making this God awful cry. Then I noticed him dragging his back legs. Every so often he'd let out a cry, and I would see him dragging the back legs. This morning he's perfectly fine. Ate, went outdoors, and is jumping on & off the couch. What could have caused this, and should I be alarmed?

Umm does sound odd especailly the dragging the back leg.

My first thought was perhaps he could have a hairball, which can be uncomfortable for the cat and could make him cry out.

See this page for more about hairballs

However because of the dragging the back leg i would be inclined to see if he does it again and if so to have him checked by a vet in case there are other things going on.

best wishes Kate
