cats that have lived together for years fighting

My cats have lived together for about 5 years.... and through a move... we have been living in this house for about 3 years... and this past week my younger cat has had some aggression towards my older cat... he is afraid to leave my moms room... my mom thinks that maybe my young cat is sick... could a sickness cause aggression and paranoia and skitishness? ? ? And if so wats wrong with her ? ?

yes if a cat is feeling unwell they can act aggressively. One of my own cats is the same at the moment. he is not feeling himself due to a recent cat bite and now he growls at his brother who wants to play. This won't last though one he is feeling better.

If you do suspect that your cat is sick it is best to have him checked by a vet to make sure that there is no physical cause for his aggression.

If the vet finds nothing then this may be a case of aggression truama brought on by fear. Please see my page here for more on this issue.
