Color of cats poop

by Lisa
(Michigan)

I have been fostering orphaned kittens now for 2 weeks. I believe they are about 5-6 weeks now. They have all their teeth and are eating dry food that I leave out. Their poop color when on formula was a mustard color, which I read is normal. Now it is dark brown in color, is that normal? I serve moistened dry food 2-3 x a day. Should I put them on wet canned food 2-3 x a day instead of the moistened dry food. I don't want them to get constipated.

Hi
yes it is normal for the color to change once the food type is changed.

As long as you are feeding kitten dry food and they are drinking water too they should be fine. i have fed my two on this since they were weaned. If they do not drink then yes mix some wet food in with the dry to provide some moisture.

best wishes Kate
