Concerned about my cat...

by Connie

Hi there....I have a year old male tabby that recently had his shots...wormed....and frontlined.....I've noticed (prior) to all that that he has lost some weight and seems to be coughing..almost like a hairball cough..but no hairball....he's an outdoor farm cat...brings us all kinds of things..moles, mice, and birds....thought maybe because its summer..and he's hunting..maybe that was it...should I be concerned?

Hi Connie
unfortunately it is difficult to say. Cat flu can be a problem and I don't know if the vaccines you received covered that or not.

I would have thought that the vet would have commented on his weight loss at the time of his visit if he thought it was a problem.

Also hairballs can take awhile to cough up and may need some help to shift it.

However if this has been going on for some time and if the weight loss is getting worse then if it were me i would take him back to the vets for another check up.

Hope he is Ok again soon

best wishes kate
