female cat always licking behind

hi my six yr old female cat is forever cleanin her bottom and chewing at it she also drags it along the carpet and turns to sniff at it then beging licking it again can you tell me why?

Is she spayed? If not then she may be in heat.

if she is then she may have somethings like worms

or some other parasite in that area such as fleas or a skin mite.

Make sure you regularly give her flea treatment once a month and also a worming tablet at least 1 every 6 months. I have always used flea spot on treatments as some of them also protect from some forms of cat worms too. See this page for more options for protecting your cat from these pests. flea treatments

If the problem persists then it may be an idea to have her checked out my a vet in case she has some sort of infection in that area.
