How do cats eyes glow in the dark.

Answer by Kate
This is because at the back of a cats eye they have a layer which is light reflecting and is called the tapetum lucidum.

It is like a mirror and reflects back any light coming into the eye. Its purpose is to allow the cat to see more at night by using every tiny bit of light that enters the eye.

This is why cats eyes appear to glow at night when light hits there eyes, it is being reflected back out by this layer at the back of the eye.

hope that answers your question.

best wishes Kate
