How do I get a cat to come back inside?

I have a cat that has been outside for about 2 yrs now. He was an indoor/outdoor cat until I got a kitten. He eats outside and sleeps in a tool shed. If I try to go up to him he runs off. I feel awful in the winter as i kive in NH. It gets very cold. I would like him to be an indoor/outdoor or just indoor again. Any ideas on how to start this process???

The quick answer to this is, you can't. if you are offering the cat the comforts of coming inside and they refuse then thats there choice. I would also say that if you did manage to get him to come in and you didn't let him out again, you would have a very unhappy and possibly frustrated cat that could end up with problems in the house such as scracthing and urination etc.

If I were you all you can is to provide as much comfort as you can for the cat in the tool shed. Give him a warm dry place to sleep and provide food and clean drinking water for him.

Best wishes kate
