Hungry kitty

I just adopted a lovely 7 month old kitten from the spca. He has been here for five days, and my older cat has finally come downstairs to interact with the two of us. While her appetite stayed completely normal, he has been eating very little. I have tried several foods, but as of yet the only thing he wants to eat is human food, particularly bacon. I am guilty of giving him some of this because he has refused everything else that I have tried. I have tried mixing old and new food, just his old food, wet food (several different types) as well as just giving him plain old treats. He is very thin and needs to get his weight up to at least 9 lbs, he will be a big cat. Right now he is only 6 lbs, and it shows. Help!!

Hi
well as you know it is not good to feed him our food as this will not be balanced enough to give him all the nutrients he needs.

Some cats can be very fussy about there food and as yours has recently only come to you he will be used to whatever the shelter fed him.

Choose a good quality kitten food and stick with it. he will eat it once he is hungry enough and then he will get used to it. You could ask the shelter what food they used too and try that with him again.

best wishes kate
