I'm stupified about my cat...

My cat has been laying down on his belly and sticking his butt in the air. When he does this, no one is petting him and he's not making any sounds (such as meowing, growling, whining, etc.). The muscles at the base of tail twitch a little bit as if he's trying to get rid of a fly, but that's all. After about a minute, he puts his butt back down. Should I be worried??

Hi well to me it sounds like he is stretching but he may also have some minor irritation in that area.

It doesn't sound too bad and I wouldn't worry too much. Have a look around his rear end to see if there are any signs of either a discharge or some sort of mite or flea around the tail area. part the fur and see if you can see anything on the skin.

If the behaviour continues and you are till worried then a quick check-up by the vet should be able to put your mind at rest and sort out any problems he may have.
