Introducing a 3 month kitten to a 1 year old cat (both female)

What is the best way to go about this? When I brought the kitten home(a 3 month old), a few hours later I introduced the 1 year old cat to the kitten. Right away the cat got mad and wanted to attack the kitten. The cat saw the kitten she hissed and her ears went back in anger and growled. This morning I tried introducing them by taking the cat outside and the kitten sat on the window sill inside the house , the cat sat outside, they could see each other through the window. They hissed and growled at each other, and stared at each other for a while. Both cats are fixed. Will they eventually get along? If they do, I know it will take time. What is the best way to go about it?

Hi, there is a way to introduce cats so that they get used to their smell long before they actually see each other and then to have short safe exposure to each other. See my page here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/introducing-cats.html it takes you through the steps. It may take a few weeks until your cats are comfortable with each other but you must be prepared that they may never become good friends and only tolerate each other, or you may be lucky and they become good friends. Lets hope for the second one. :)
