Kitten has runny and bloody stools

my 10 week old kitten has runny stools with blood in them at the moment she will only eat her mothers cat food and not her kitten food could it be down to that also she was caught drinking cows milk out my sons breakfast bowl a few days ago and the blood has only been there for 24 hrs i really hopeyou can help as vets are so expensive

yes it could be caused by the adult cat food, it may be too rich for the kittens digestive system. Also cows milk can cause diahrea too.

You will have to make sure she does not eat the adult food and only give her small amounts of cat milk. It may also be a good idea to give her system a rest for the next few days, so feed smaller amounts and encourage water drinking. I find dry kitten food the best as it helps with their teeth and also fills them up without them eating large amounts of food.

if symptoms get worse or if the situation does not change in a week then yes she will need to see a vet, blood in the stool should always be investigated if it persists.

best wishes Kate
